Gearbox bearings - Peter Naulls - 15-04-2022 Does anyone have a source for a replacement roller bearing that fits in the nose piece of a 4-speed synchro box? It supports the splined input shaft. Alternatively has anyone successfully machined this to take something different? RE: Gearbox bearings - Terrytuned - 16-04-2022 Don't use them get an inter bush from A7 suppliers much better, those bearings can damage the end of the mainshaft and the bore of the 1st motion shaft. Or if you mean the bearing at the front of the nose piece use a good used one they should not be hard to source. Terry. RE: Gearbox bearings - Dave Mann - 16-04-2022 If you mean the one in here which runs on this shaft the rollers run on the shaft and it is the shaft which usually wears. It is either build it up and grind to size or find a good unworn shaft. RE: Gearbox bearings - Peter Naulls - 16-04-2022 Yes that's the one Dave. There is a bit of wear on the shaft but more on the bearing. I have a choice of 3 but even the best of them is pretty ropey. I have another couple of boxes so perhaps they will yield a better one. Thank you both for your replies. |
