3/8" Bsf machined nuts - Robert Foreman - 15-03-2022

Can anyone point me in the direction of sourcing some 3/8" Bsf machined nuts?
These are also sometimes referred to as bar turned and were at one time widely available.

I believe I got some from Namrick a few years back but I cant find the paperwork.
Uncle Google says Heritage Steam Supplies and Thomas Smith Fasteners list them, the former has both pre- and post-war variants.

It's a while since I ordered from them but you could try EKP Supplies in Barnstaple.

Hi, try this guy. Acme Stainless. 01526 861991
Bought lots from him over the last 10 yrs or so. Mainly bespoke m/cycle parts but does bar turned nuts, bolts & washers. All good quality.
 Regards. Kevin.

Robert

If you specifically want bar turned rather than mass produced

https://historicthreads.co.uk/contact-us-2-w.asp

they don't list them, but Dave will make any fixing to order CNC'd.

Dave Swaffield is a pretty clever chap. Would probably carve you out a speedy crankcase out of a solid lump of ali if you asked him.

Hi Robert

From a slight distance, what is visible difference between the better quality conventional and bar turned?

Thanks for the suggestions, it now gives me a few avenues of inquiry.
