Alternative events to celebrate the Centenary - Nick Salmon - 14-02-2022 Although the Centenary Event at Moreton-in-Marsh is sold out, there are lots of wonderful alternatives available at which to celebrate this very special Austin Seven anniversary. We have just published a newsletter email with details of some of them. https://a7centenary.com/news/centenary-year-news-14th-february-2022-info-about-other-events-celebrating-this-special-anniversary In particular there is the Austin Seven Centenary Festival of Motorsport at Prescott hillclimb on Weds 20th July. Free for those already booked into the Centenary Event but with a limited quantity of tickets available for anyone else to attend. See: https://www.facebook.com/Austin-7-Festival-of-Motorsport-20th-July-2022-Prescott-102801945659988 or if you don't do Facebook you can go to: https://www.prescotthillclimb.co.uk/event-details/austin-7-centenary-festival-of-motorsport In a VERY exciting piece of news, Charlie Plain-Jones (who is organising the Festival) has confirmed that all three of the 1937 Austin Teams cars will be coming from the British Motor Museum at Gaydon. What a fantastic opportunity to see and hear them! See: https://www.facebook.com/groups/365809084904349 Entry forms and ticketing arrangements for Beaulieu will be on the Pre-War Austin Seven Club's site in the near future (probably mid-March). https://www.pwa7c.co.uk RE: Alternative events to celebrate the Centenary - andrew34ruby - 14-02-2022 This is looking good, but can we manage something north of Silverstone? West Yorkshire maybe? RE: Alternative events to celebrate the Centenary - Steve kay - 14-02-2022 As well as alternative events, might I remind Sevenists of the additional event at Shelsley. It has already been disused here on the forum, recently featuring the seminal image of Louis Kings ascending the hill as the Seven's first public appearance, mere days after Sir Herbert announced the car in London. This year's Vintage event is on Sunday 3rd July, so some of you will be at Beulieu. Shelsley offers the opportunity to attend the world's oldest active motor sport venue, barely two weeks short of a hundred years since the Austin Seven commenced its competition career. The vigour with which the Seven is still active will be demonstrated by entries to VSCC classes, and to celebrate the Centenary, it is intended that Bert Hadley Championship contenders who will have taken part on the Saturday, will also be climbing the hill on the Sunday. This should produce an unrivalled turn out of competing Sevens. There should be a large designated car park for spectators arriving by Seven, and MAC will be offering a discounted admission of £15. As well as competing cars, it is hoped to have a good turn out of historic cars, and for those machines that are too original, or too noisy to remain hillclimbing, there should be demonstration runs during the lunch interval. VSCC regs will be out in due course, Shirley Tull is in contact with PWA7C members re the Bert Hadley Championship. MAC will confirm spectator's arrangements and welcome advance booking, to qualify for discount and allow planning for numbers of Sevens. The enthusiasm for displaying historic cars has been most encouraging, anyone wanting to know more or offer other machines please contact me; stevekaytwo@btinternet.com. And to return to another previous forum discussion, anyone yet tracked down the OK 7095 replica? RE: Alternative events to celebrate the Centenary - Steve Jones - 14-02-2022 The VSCC don't publish regs for the Vintage Shelsley event. It's run by MAC and entries are open and available now via the MAC web site. Put mine in last week. Regretfully, both that event and the event the previous day that includes the Bert Hadley round clash with the National A7 Rally at Beaulieu and it's also the British GP weekend so it all might get spread a bit thin. Steve RE: Alternative events to celebrate the Centenary - Ruairidh Dunford - 14-02-2022 And this, well north of Silverstone! Entry form here: 2022 Guildtown Rally entry form.pdf (Size: 111.78 KB / Downloads: 7) RE: Alternative events to celebrate the Centenary - Tony Betts - 14-02-2022 must admit it is annoying, after covid spoiling everything for two years. we have some excellent events, and they class would have loved to take the supersports to shelsley, but the hotel is already booked for beaulieu. tony. |
