Wheels nuts - GrahamW - 17-01-2022 Hi all I am looking at competing in my Ulster rep and i believe i have to use Nylocks. I can get them locally, but what size washer do i need ? I am guessing it is a mud wing repair washer, but there is a multitude of sizes.. Thanks RE: Wheels nuts - Paul N-M - 17-01-2022 If you are using wheels that have the dowel locator holes next to the stud then one of the chaps doing the Bert Hadley series sells special s/steel washers with a taper that fits arround the stud. Very simple and clever. I believe a lot of the racing boys use them. Dont have a contact name but some digging will turn it up I would have thought. RE: Wheels nuts - Hedd_Jones - 17-01-2022 Graham The thread is 3/8 BSF. A M10 Form G washer will be very easy to find and do the job fine. Not needing to worry about competition, I simply turned the taper off a new stainless nut (bought from one of our specialist suppliers), and used some bar turned 3/8 washers I had in stock. RE: Wheels nuts - GrahamW - 17-01-2022 Thanks all for the replies, i am now on the right track ! RE: Wheels nuts - Steve Jones - 17-01-2022 The purpose made stainless washers referred to above are sold by Charlie Plain Jones. Cplainjones on here. Steve RE: Wheels nuts - Robert Leigh - 17-01-2022 These special tapered washers were sold by Alistair Frayling-Cork. And still made by him but now sold by Charlie PJ as confirmed by Alistair FC when I asked about them at Harewood last September. Steve RE: Wheels nuts - GrahamW - 17-01-2022 Thanks for the info, just scrounged a piece of A2 bar and i will turn them up at work. Good excuse to get out of the decorating at home !
