Who, Where, When?Any ideas - Robin Boyce - 11-10-2021 Any ideas please? ![]() RE: Who, Where, When?Any ideas - Malcolm Parker - 11-10-2021 The hair styles and flared trousers suggest the 1970's. The Ford Transit (shown in the second photo) was introduced (if I remember correctly) in about 1968. RE: Who, Where, When?Any ideas - andrew34ruby - 11-10-2021 The Transit was introduced in October 1965, so not far off Malcolm. RE: Who, Where, When?Any ideas - Mike Costigan - 11-10-2021 HX 2522 is Bernard Canning; DR 5582 could be Barrie Clarke. Both photos I would suggest from about 1970. RE: Who, Where, When?Any ideas - Malcolm Parker - 11-10-2021 Thank's for clarifying that, Andrew. Does the presence of The Seven Workshop indicate that this may have been a Bristol A7 club rally? RE: Who, Where, When?Any ideas - Jeff Taylor - 11-10-2021 HX 2522 is showing as untaxed since 1st September 1978 - but last V5C issued in March 2003. The registration DR 5582 is now carried by a 1975 6.7 litre Bentley colour Black. Chassis Register shows DR 5582 now carries the registration SV 8872 and mentions it was originally built by Barry Clarke. RE: Who, Where, When?Any ideas - Hugh Barnes - 11-10-2021 On behalf of Chris Garner: It’s Beatrice Canning Brown in her 1930 unblown Ulster, HX2522 . C 125162. Does the presence of The Seven Workshop indicate that this may have been a Bristol A7 club rally? Probably not. Seven Workshop started in East London and had moved to Ware (Herts) by the seventies. Dave Phillips didn't move to Bradford-on-Avon until the mid eighties. The picture labels say Beaulieu, which it looks like it might be. RE: Who, Where, When?Any ideas - Reckless Rat - 12-10-2021 Certainly in the days before the H&S police took over everyday life. RE: Who, Where, When?Any ideas - Johnhr - 12-10-2021 My understanding is that Barry Clarke built SV8872 out of DR5582. As i understand it, Barry used the mechanicals from DR5582 and a new Roach body, which was then registered SV8872. I owned SV8872 from 2007 to 2014, having bought it from Hamish Algar. The notes I got with the car set out this history, as it was understood in 2007. SV8872 certainly had an original EA Sports engine, gearbox and other parts, but a late 1929 chassis. I always understood he then used the chassis from DR5582 to build another car. |
