Maybe a question for our mature members, from about when did home builders start using telescopic dampers on their specials ? I know various race cars had them in the late 40's ... mainstream cars mid 50's ? Chapman with his specials also mid 50's ...

LM Williams book on Specials was first printed in 1958. It refers to telescopic dampers. So I guess it must be before then.
