Early Phoenix Cranks - Chris KC - 09-01-2018
Am I right in recalling that the first Phoenix cranks had some teething troubles? If so can anyone recall what was the issue, or how to identify an affected part? Or is it just my foggy memory? Thanks.

The front web touched the lip - the same is true of Allen (or was it Hadley) cranks (perhaps used the same drawings?).
They were also very (too) close to the centre cam web.
Some did not like the the oil trough design either.

Thank you Ruairidh. I ask because I have a 'spare' engine my Dad put together with a new Phoenix crank a good many years ago. It must have been one of the fairly early ones. As it's already installed it ought to be fairly easy to check the points you mention above. It's 'lying fallow' at the moment but at some point who knows...
