RE: Period trials - Steve Hainsworth - 31-12-2017 Hi Ian, Nice evocative shots. Where did you find them- are there more? Happy new Year-Must ring and Chat. Cheers Steve. RE: Period trials - Nick Turley - 31-12-2017 Superb pictures - thanks for sharing. RE: Period trials - Ian Williams - 31-12-2017 The crowds at the Lands end are quite something! RE: Period trials - Mike Costigan - 31-12-2017 OL 3443 is an interesting car; it started life as a standard 50mph Sports in 1924. It was campaigned by J G Orford (who later drove Grasshopper AOV 343) almost continuously through to at least 1934. By 1928 it had been updated with full mudguards; some time in 1930 it looks like it broke its back, and was rebuilt in 1931 with an EA Ulster tail whilst retaining the earlier scuttle and doors! Edit: It's almost certainly also seen in your 1930 Colmore Cup photo. RE: Period trials - JonE - 31-12-2017 KY5250 is still on the register, a 65 registered in September 1933. Anyone have any leads to that one please? chassis 177464... would have been an early body number; perhaps low teens. RE: Period trials - Reckless Rat - 31-12-2017 I see the Copper in the third photo has got the right idea. He's nearest the tea and scoff than anyone. He'll have gone far. Probably been on overtime too. RE: Period trials - NickB - 31-12-2017 Nearly right Reckless. There was no paid overtime in those days I believe, but they always used to say a good copper never gets wet but always knows where to get a cup of tea. I do like the china cup and saucer at the tea wagon, very classy! Driven here on the 1933 MCC Sporting Trial by H C Hobson, winner of a Silver Award. RE: Period trials - Colin Morgan - 31-12-2017 There's a red Type 65 for sale on carandclassic at the moment - but that would be too much of a coincidence? Colin |
