Opal Colour - Adrian Payne - 09-01-2021 Please see below email received through the A7CA website. Can anyone help with this enquiry? Could you remind me what factory records are still available? Many thanks. Adrian "I buy an Austin seven Opal, chassis model 235145 of 1/1/1936. I 'm looking to know her origin's colors. Could you help me? The seat are read. Thank's for your hel Best Regards Stéphane Bouissou in south of France." RE: Opal Colour - Mike Costigan - 09-01-2021 I don't think there are any records to show the original colour of an individual 1936 car, but the Archive has a set of 1936 colour swatches from which Stephane could make a personal choice: http://archive.a7ca.org/collections/paints-and-colours/ If the seats are red, then almost certainly the car was also red or maroon. RE: Opal Colour - JonE - 09-01-2021 perhaps he could do some scratching in the hinge area and odd corners where he might be able to find out? RE: Opal Colour - Archivist - 09-01-2021 and the paints are available from Adam Brown of Craftmaster paints... I was able to arrange for Adam to have access to the original paint swatches and scanned to provide the formulations. The shades should be quite accurate as the paint swatches had been perfectly preserved in their case in the dark... RE: Opal Colour - Adrian Payne - 09-01-2021 Many thanks for your speedy help. I will report back. Adrian. |
