Diff carrier bearings - Howard Wright - 03-11-2020 Hi All I’m rebuilding the axle in my RK. The diff carrier bearings on the axle are SKF RLS 10 , (withMTLD stamped on the inner race). I don’t think these are angular contact thrust bearings. Can anyone confirm? Cheers Howard RE: Diff carrier bearings - Zetomagneto - 03-11-2020 Howard, that number is for ordinary ball bearings, not AC. Gene RE: Diff carrier bearings - Howard Wright - 03-11-2020 Thanks Gene I thought that but good to have it confirmed . Cheers Howard RE: Diff carrier bearings - Ruairidh Dunford - 03-11-2020 I think the bearings you have are correct for 1923-28 axles (also known as LJ 1 1'/4") - shim adjusted side tube. RE: Diff carrier bearings - Howard Wright - 03-11-2020 Hi Ruairidh Thanks I know the RK needs angular contacts. I guess the previous owner might have either got the wrong info or couldn’t afford the right bearings! Never mind I can use them in the hubs . Cheers Howard RE: Diff carrier bearings - Ruairidh Dunford - 03-11-2020 You can indeed! RE: Diff carrier bearings - Bob Culver - 03-11-2020 I wonder how long been used? Tony Press can provide relative thrust ratings. ""Modern"" bearings are rated much higher than in 1920s. For moderate use maybe just turn around and reuse! |
