Last night's discovery - Steve kay - 20-10-2020

   

Of the four timing/magneto drive gears taken off  the 1925 crankcase, two are in excellent condition. However, the other two, as illustrated, are not.
The immediately  evident damage of chips missing  was somewhat reinforced after washing, revealing the puzzle of how the wholly cracked gear has lasted so long. Do members know of suppliers of gear trains, or is this a search through someone's stock of mag engine crankcases?

Lucky that hasn't let go.
Dave Dye can supply new steel ones.
The chipping on the mag gear key slot is not unknown (poor fitting) and I've split a crank gear too. The cam gears are susceptible to breakage in the web too. I almost certainly have a spare crank gear or two in a box if you need one.
