LHD Ruby in the USA - Mike Costigan - 24-09-2020 Yet another car not on the Register; there can't be many left-hand-drive Rubies around: https://barnfinds.com/bf-auction-1935-austin-ruby-saloon/ RE: LHD Ruby in the USA - JonE - 24-09-2020 Have you sent Peter the details, Mike? wonder where the '67 UK plate emerged from ?! "New rear lights correct for a 36 Ruby..." RE: LHD Ruby in the USA - Ivor Hawkins - 25-09-2020 Yes, the '67 UK plate is a mystery and also the fact that it's a Mark 1 but he says the rear lights are correct for 1936. Of course it shouldn't have any lights on the mudguards. I love the earth strap bolted to the head! RE: LHD Ruby in the USA - Mike Costigan - 25-09-2020 A lot of British cars in the USA have 'acquired' British-style registration numbers which have no relevance to the individual car; many people have no understanding of the British registration system, so just stick on a number which they think looks authentic. I admit to being guilty of the same crime: when I imported my Saxon, I acquired and fitted a pair of period US licence plates, although I have no idea what make of car they originally came from.
