Block Question - cwchrisp - 29-08-2020 I have a block I am refurbishing and was surprised to find the cylinder head studs over the manifold connect with the manifold stud holes. On either end of the manifold the outer studs also have a small hole drilled into the block at an angle towards the core plugs. Could I ask what these channels are for please? Thanks RE: Block Question - dickie65 - 30-08-2020 Hi, I think you will find that the holes you refer to are just where the the two drillings meet and break out into each other. The centre manifold stud is also interconnected in the same way. Nothing to worry about, just remember that the stud threads often become a water path if not sealed, it often manifests it as a leak under the head nuts even though the head gasket is intact. I have also had leaks from the manifold studs too. RE: Block Question - cwchrisp - 30-08-2020 Hello, Thank you for your reply and I now see they are indeed interconnected with the water paths. I will make sure I seal the studs with Blue Hylomar. Chris |
