Is there a date stamp on a 4 speed gearbox?

assuming the top doesn't have the same coding as the gearbox itself, I don't think anyone has 'cracked' the serial numbers in isolation?
But presumably if the codes ARE the same, then the relevant SYN nomenclature up top is going to be a date zone of sorts?
