Nothing to do with Austin Sevens ... - Mike Costigan - 02-06-2020 Came across this eBay listing, which fascinates me. Described as 'larger than an MG TC' (but how much larger?) it is distinctly British in style, yet the registration number is French, looks to be right-hand drive. That front valence is distinctive and probably the best identifying feature; I'm pretty sure it's not MG, Wolseley, Singer or Hillman, which would be the obvious British contenders, so what is it? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/European-Vintage-looking-aluminium-roadster-body-MG-Singer-Salmson-Hillman/124202636604?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 unknown 1.jpg (Size: 100.35 KB / Downloads: 324) unknown 3.jpg (Size: 105.68 KB / Downloads: 323) RE: Nothing to do with Austin Sevens ... - Alan - 02-06-2020 HRG? Maybe RE: Nothing to do with Austin Sevens ... - Mike Costigan - 02-06-2020 Didn't the HRG have quarter-elliptic front springs, therefor no need for that front valence? RE: Nothing to do with Austin Sevens ... - Nick Turley - 02-06-2020 Could it be a Riley ? RE: Nothing to do with Austin Sevens ... - Reckless Rat - 02-06-2020 A lot of pre-war French cars were right hand drive, including Bugattis. The registration is Paris. (75) RE: Nothing to do with Austin Sevens ... - dickie65 - 02-06-2020 Now thats an attractive body. That style would look great on a Seven chassis. RE: Nothing to do with Austin Sevens ... - Peter Naulls - 02-06-2020 One wonders why such a well-proportioned and restorable body has been separated from its chassis … to replace it with what? Anyone got a spare Austin 10 chassis kicking around? Peter. RE: Nothing to do with Austin Sevens ... - Hugh Barnes - 02-06-2020 Registered in France but the body seems to being sold from California... Edit to add: look at the Ebay listing and then scroll down to read the description (as I have just done!). Some more background there... RE: Nothing to do with Austin Sevens ... - Robert Leigh - 02-06-2020 May I throw Lagonda Rapier into the ring? RE: Nothing to do with Austin Sevens ... - AllAlloyCup - 02-06-2020 Crankshaft nose driven dynamo ? Could be a Riley special? Bill G |
