Seats - steve62008 - 27-05-2020 I understand there may be someone(s) who produce upholstery for Austin 7's...true? Anybody have a source or 5? RE: Seats - Martin Prior - 27-05-2020 Try Simon Laxton, 7 Trimming https://www.7trimming.co.uk/ for the soft bits - he specialises in Austin Sevens and has an excellent reputation. We (Martin Prior and Son's Motor Works) can supply all of the woodwork for seats, interior trim cards and so on. RE: Seats - charlie carpenter - 27-05-2020 I agree with Martin I bought 2 new seats in leather from Simon and am delighted with them. Charlie RE: Seats - Chris KC - 27-05-2020 How much money do you want to spend? Gail Hodgson (GJ Upholstery) David Nightingale Brian Purves Or DIY... RE: Seats - steve62008 - 27-05-2020 2 pounds. I was quoted $1800 at a shop here (for real cow hide) I'd like to email the chap, but his website is wonkey for some reason and his "contact" page doesn't work...anybody have his email address? RE: Seats - andrew34ruby - 28-05-2020 Simon 07949 069708 RE: Seats - Jeff Taylor - 28-05-2020 I believe Simon Laxton's email address is or certainly was laxton300@hotmail.co.uk The three companies mentioned by Chris KC are listed in the link below with their respective email addresses / websites where applicable: https://oldcarservices.co.uk/interior-trim-supplies-upholstery/ RE: Seats - Nick Turley - 28-05-2020 Simon Laxton is super quality and very reasonable and has great knowledge on the Seven. He has recently trimmed three Austin Sevens for me. He delivers on time ! I would recommend Simon to anyone. RE: Seats - Malcolm Parker - 28-05-2020 Anyone who knows Nick and the standard of his cars will understand that Simon Laxton's work must be very good indeed. Simon's father David Laxton was a great Austin 7 enthusiast. I seem to recall that at one time he owned the nautical Austin 7 that has been the subject of recent discussion on this Forum. RE: Seats - Chris KC - 28-05-2020 There is no doubt a pro will generally do a better job of it than an amateur, and we certainly have some skilled people we can call upon if you want a classy job. Depending on your ambitions though it is not quite beyond the reach of a hobbyist with a decent sewing machine (in which I include nearly any hand-wound relic). I DIY'd the seat back for my Ulster and considered the outlay of about £150 (for a hide big enough to do my Nippy as well) quite reasonable. £2 may be pushing it a bit. Will get around to the seat cushions when I have a bit more free time... |
