Not had this one before! - Dave Wortley - 11-05-2020

After trying to remove the rear main bearing cartridge on the family heirloom RN, using hot air gun, pusher screws in cartridge and finally a long drift and hammer via front of crankcase this was the result. The driver's side screw has penetrated the oil gallery. As you may be able to see the wall thickness in the gallery is only about 1.5mm. It would have been better if the pusher screw tappings had been made at 12 nd 6o o'clock instead.

That must have been shock Dave - a little weld should do the trick.

Nick, managed to drill out and fit a shallow 1/8 BSP plug, loctited in.
Cheers,
Dave.
