A simple computer question - Steve kay - 07-05-2020 From a sadly simple computer user. I found the forum wholly accessible earlier this morning, to read, make the odd contribution and respond to a PM, indeed this shows it still is. This was and is on the laptop which sits on my desk in the study. Taking the ipad outside to look at anything except newspaper reports over breakfast out in the sun, the ipad has suddenly decided not to give access to the forum. Attempts to log in, or type in the requested code apparently intended to confirm that I am a human did not work at all, it now says I have failed within the required number of attempts. Is this just my equipment being difficult, should I brandish a can of WD 40 or a little box of BA spanners at the back of the ipad? Is this happening to anyone else or is there advise on what to do? RE: A simple computer question - Howard Wright - 07-05-2020 Hi Steve I’m not sure but I believe that you can only log on to one machine at a time. Management may confirm this. Try logging out of everything and just logging in to one machine at a time. Cheers Howard RE: A simple computer question - bob46320 - 07-05-2020 Do you have a WiFi extender and perhaps when you went out the computer locked onto it and has blocked access. The. All computers off then back on and STAY INSIDE !! RE: A simple computer question - Chris KC - 07-05-2020 Not sure about that Howard, I'm permanently logged in on my 'phone but have no difficulty accessing on my desktop. I'd suggest restart the laptop indoors and try again? RE: A simple computer question - Mark McKibbin - 07-05-2020 Caps Lock? RE: A simple computer question - jpsmit - 07-05-2020 Witchcraft! assuming virgins are increasing hard to find in lockdown (Dad joke!) try the simple things first restart the ipad clear history and cache perhaps try a different browser after that you will likely need eye of newt and a cauldron good luck! RE: A simple computer question - Nick Salmon - 07-05-2020 If all else fails, borrow a ten year old child. They will fix it in seconds. RE: A simple computer question - Steve kay - 07-05-2020 half an hour of attempts achieve nothing. Trying to get a new password on the ipad refused because there is an email of that address already and another password can't be issued. Typing in the secret code letters seems to fail, whether trying upper and lower case although it says case not important. Whole thing has frozen again due to too many attempts. Maybe the computer, or the Chinese government, reckon that two forum access methods are too many. Despite having both machines sat next to each other on my desk, they don't seem to communicate. Waited required 15 minutes, yet again "verification code incorrect" never mind, at least I can follow the wonderful thoughts, advise and encouragement sat indoors. RE: A simple computer question - John Mason - 07-05-2020 Steve, with your iPad go to settings then scroll down to safari. Click on safari then scroll down to clear history and website data click on that in order to clear all your browsing history. I believe a little box pops up where you confirm you want to delete . Return to your browsing page and type in Austin seven forum chat followed by enter. See if that helps. John Mason RE: A simple computer question - Tony Press - 07-05-2020 IPads and other related devices are the devils invention- I stay logged on to the forum on a basic Windows 10 laptop and an 'old' Windows 7 desktop all day. If I accidently log out both computers offer me the log in details. Never tried on the cheap 'smart' phone or the Windows XP |
