Steering side tube aka drag link greasing - Howard Wright - 06-05-2020 Hi All I’m about to fabricate a new steering side tube (BM99) or drag link for my special to ensure the drop arm doesn’t go “over centre”. Whilst doing this I want to add a bolt adjuster to the end of the caps (BM101) AND if possible a grease nipple. I understand that later Rubys had a grease nipple fitted but I can’t find a picture or diagram of where the nipple was located. My idea is to drill the end of the cap, braze a 3/8” nut onto the end. A 3/8” bolt, drilled and tapped to take a 1/4” grease nipple acts as the adjuster. My question is will sufficient grease find its way past the thrust block to lubricate the ball? I don’t fancy trying to drill a grease hole through the hardened thrust block! Cheers Howard RE: Steering side tube aka drag link greasing - Ruairidh Dunford - 06-05-2020 Here you are Howard. RE: Steering side tube aka drag link greasing - Terrytuned - 06-05-2020 Howard where the small oil hole is on the photo braze on a 6mm/1/4bsf nut for a grease nipple. Terry.
