1923 Chummy - and a competition. - Tony Griffiths - 30-04-2020 If you're not a Facebook aficionado, you'll have missed this wonderful period picture of a very early example. Remarkable to think that the basic chassis and engine design lasted almost 17 years; but, perhaps even more astonishing was the number of detail changes made in that time. Hence, nothing from a 1922/3 car would fit a late Ruby (would it?). It's called - "customer development". Competition: what Austin Seven part, or parts, remained unchanged over the longest time span? I'll kick it off with: sidecreen hinges, used from the first post-pram-hood models until the last of the Open Road Tourers. Cylinder Block Barrel Nuts? Spring U Bolts? RE: 1923 Chummy - and a competition. - Mike Costigan - 30-04-2020 Steve beat me to the side water manifold; I don't think that changed throughout the life of the Seven. Did the track-rod and arms and the drag link change? RE: 1923 Chummy - and a competition. - Tony Betts - 30-04-2020 Take it the picture wasnt taken when the car was new. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE them foot scrapers. Are they a period accessory. I must make a pair for the 23 car. Tony. RE: 1923 Chummy - and a competition. - Robert Leigh - 30-04-2020 The wheel nuts did change. I think it was 1936 for the MkII Ruby they were chromed.
