Which fuel pump are you using? . I've been told that the ones with the black diaphragm goes porous with the Ethanol in the petrol.

I assume you are referring to the diaphragm going porous, not the pump body. I've not had to do anything to my fuel pumps on my sevens, but I had a lot of trouble on my series land rover. All the new diaphragms are red, so I'm assuming the red stuff has some magic ethanol resistant component. If you're worried I'd confirm whether you have a T type or a slot type connector on the rod below the diaphragm and then buy a new one. Worth doing as if the diaphragm leaks you'll get fuel into your sump (as well as getting insufficient fuel to the carb). It's the older pump that doesn't have a primer, that diaphragm doesn't fit ..

Tony at http://classicfuelsystems.co.uk/index.html rebuilt a carb for me a few years ago. He's in Bradford and lists "diaphragms" on his site, so may be worth trying.

In a previous post of yours, "gaskets" 'Slack Alice' Simon stated that the M type pump secured its diaphragm with a nut rather than rivets. I found this site in Australia (https://classiccarbs.com.au/index.php?_route_=Classic-Fuel-Pumps-Repair-Kits-Diaphragm-Kits-Fuel-Pump-Parts/Pump-Diaphragm-Material-Fabric-Reinforced-Nitrile-Sheet), which suggests what is needed is reinforced nitrile sheet. 1.5mm thick. Looks like all that's needed is for Tony Betts to take three acres of the stuff into stock and we're sorted!

If five, it is the relatively uncommon M type pump, for which new diaphagms are not, as far as I know, available. ( I bought a " New Old Stock" one - waste of money).
I make diaphragms for mine from rubber dinghy material, they are supposed to be petrol proof but only last about 12 months. Still, better than nothing, and one of these days I will cut down one of the ones supplied for the "T" type pumps.
In the meantime, you could fit a "T" type pump, but you need to re-route your pipes, or make a little additional pipe to connect to your original pipe, since the inlet and outlet positions are not the same.

If its not yet porous just switch to 97 octane fuel. My black diaphragm was fine for an extra couple of years use but I did (and still do) carry a spare red one
