London to Brighton Veteran Car Run

Not specifically Austin 7 related, but we usually see a few out and about during the day.
Always a marvellous spectacle, over 400 cars from 1893-1904.

Sorry for the delay in posting this one, but here it is, hopefully better late than never.
It was a great day last Sunday, beautiful sunshine all day, and not too cold. As always a magnifcent array of veteran machinery making their way to Brighton including a good number of early bicycles. Plenty of other interesting vehicles of all ages, out and about throughout the day including two sevens, an Opal and a Ruby. The earliest car to pass us was the 1896 Panhard & Levassor 6CV Omnibus (Pictured below), a truly stunning machine, and a magnificent sight. Below is some video I took during the day, and also a few pictures of a range of the cars and bicycles. I've tried to not go too mad with pictures, but if you would like to see more just let me know.

11 Herbert Austin Wolseleys passed us during the day, the earliest was #29, the 3rd Wolseley car and first 4 wheeler, the 1899 3.5hp Voiturette. The car was entered by Stephen Laing, and driven by Hanno Kirner.
   

A magical sight. A 'Penny Farthing' following a 1900 Mobile 5.5hp Steam Runabout (#56 - John Blackford), a 1903 Oldsmobile Model R 'Curved Dash' Runabout (#259 - Nigel Todd), and you can just about see an edge of a 1934 Austin 12-4 Taxicab on the right.

The 1902 Benz was involved in a collision with three other cars at about 11:35 GMT at Reigate Hill, Surrey.

It had been taking part in the annual parade of vehicles dating back to the early 20th Century.

Two people from the Benz were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Two other people travelling in the car were taken to hospital with minor injuries, said Surrey Police.

A Ford C-Max, a Mercedes-Benz GLE and a Fiat Fiorino were also involved in the crash.

Two passengers from the Ford were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The Royal Automobile Club, which stages the veteran run, previously said it was the world's oldest motoring event.

It commemorates the Emancipation Run in 1896, celebrating the Locomotives on the Highway Act which raised the speed limit from 4mph to 14mph and abolished the requirement for vehicles to be preceded by a man on foot.

The Royal Automobile Club said it would be "conducting a thorough review to identify any lessons which can be learnt from this accident".
