Stoneguard mesh - Charles P - 06-01-2020

Anyone know of a source of smaller quantities of brass stoneguard mesh? It's 16 gauge with 7/16" (ish) aperture size and needs to be cut on the diagonal.

I can buy a large sheet from Vintage Supplies, but then I'd have most of it left (I could probably flog online though). I have a stoneguard with no mesh at the moment!

Suggestions welcomed

Thanks

Charles

Someone had this available in the recent past, Charles. Not sure but it might have been Keith Dobinson?

Hi Charles

I used stainless steel and painted it black, I can’t remember the company but they cut it to size with a diamond pattern.  If you want the company name let me know and I will keep looking.

A cheap solution is to see if your local scrap yard is breaking an MGF - the radiator screens on the front bumper use a suitable size diagonal mesh.

Hello,

Would that be something like that please?

I would be interested to find that kind of mesh again (I made that one 50 years ago...)

That's the stuff. Double crimped is the style.
Brass, because it needs to be plated afterwards (sorry, not painted black).

Keep thinking Steve....

Try The Mesh Company in Warrington, they have all sorts. There is also another company near them A7D or something. They both advertise on eBay. I've found them helpful and efficient

I have used stainless steel. It may not shine as much as decent chrome plate but in my opinion looks satisfactory, and it is more corrision resistant than brass.
