Musical rumble strips... - Ruairidh Dunford - 05-01-2020 New to me but apparently common in Japan, Holland and the US etc... Has anyone tried it in a Seven (and can you hear it if so)? RE: Musical rumble strips... - Duncan Grimmond - 06-01-2020 Where words fail music speaks! RE: Musical rumble strips... - Derek Sheldon - 06-01-2020 It’s only January, isn’t it ? RE: Musical rumble strips... - Peter Sweeney - 06-01-2020 Sounds like the M180 only quieter. RE: Musical rumble strips... - Chris KC - 06-01-2020 Be very careful what you wish for!! RE: Musical rumble strips... - Viteran - 06-01-2020 My son was in Japan fairly recently and “ tried “ the rumble strips on mount Haruna in Gunma. They are designed to work at the speed limit which was 50 Kmh so an A7 could manage it. I hope to visit with him in the autumn and try for myself. Incidentally he says he is a mongrel with a Scottish mother, English father ( vet) and born in Lancashire ! Ian RE: Musical rumble strips... - steve62008 - 06-01-2020 Route 66 in U.S. has musical rumble strips...https://youtu.be/rgizA_vDlzs (plays America the Beautiful, so beware) RE: Musical rumble strips... - Peter Naulls - 06-01-2020 I remember some experimental version of this 40 years ago when being driven to Scotland in a Morris Traveller (A1 I think). Not musical, but noisy enough to stop you sleeping apparently! I suppose it was a variation on the kerbside rumble strip idea. Peter. RE: Musical rumble strips... - Viteran - 06-01-2020 My son just emailed me to say you have to get up the mountain in the first place, as if that could be a challenge for an Austin ! RE: Musical rumble strips... - Andy Bennett - 08-01-2020 I have come across these and understand the principle is simple in that, to hear the 'tune' correctly you have to be just below the speed limit. I guess there might be an unintended consequence to liven things up and so try to speed the music up by speeding. Andy B |
