Rear Axle Ratios - Tod - 27-11-2019 Can anyone please tell me how to check the Rear Axle ratio without removing and stripping the axle. I seem to recall reading somewhere how to do this. Tod RE: Rear Axle Ratios - Rogerfrench - 27-11-2019 Mark a rear tyre where it touches the ground. Push the car through one complete rotation of the wheel while counting how many times, and fractions, the propshaft rotates. The U/J is easiest. If it's just under 5, you have a 4.9 Most common, 5 1/4 times for a 5.25. Just a bit less for a 5.125. Etc., etc. RE: Rear Axle Ratios - Tod - 27-11-2019 Many thanks for your quick response Roger.
