Front mudguard - spannerman - 24-11-2019 I'm looking at fitting my front mudgaurds to the brake Hubs on my special! How have you mounted yours Some pictures would help me a lot. trying to get them Tidy looking anybody got some pics that will help me? Thanks RE: Front mudguard - Howard Wright - 24-11-2019 Hi Spannerman I’m just doing this at the moment. Here’s my first attempt. I need to tidy up the aluminium spacers. I’ve used 1/4 BSF countersunk set screws through the backplate rivet holes (they need opening out to fit). The aluminium is tapped and a chase milled to locate the stays. The stays are 10mm diameter 1mm thick steel flattened to fit the chase. By tapping the aluminium you can remove the stays without disassembling the brakes. My milling is terrible and needs to be redone but it gives you an idea. Cheers Howard RE: Front mudguard - Stuart Giles - 24-11-2019 Here's the setup on one of my cars. Obviously, these are hydraulic backplates, but the same setup should work on Austin factory backplates. There are three countersunk 5/16" screws though the backplate, these are locked off with nuts on the outside of the backplate which also act as spacers. The steel tubes are brazed to the steel plate which is secured to the backplate with three more nuts. RE: Front mudguard - spannerman - 24-11-2019 I'm getting some good idea's on The mudgaurd mountings will see if Any more pictures and ideas come on Its always nice when people will help get Your ideas as to what you want? |
