A new RTC on the block... - Ruairidh Dunford - 23-09-2019

Tod writes:

" Here is my attempt at building an RTC special. It has taken about 16 months to build from a bare chassis.
The body, delivered at Easter, is by Stuart Roach and is of a very high standard.
I am very happy with the car and would like to thank everyone who helped me during the build.

Tod"

It looks to be a very pretty little car.

RE: A new RTC on the block... - Nick Turley - 24-09-2019

How great is that Tod, now it just needs using.

RE: A new RTC on the block... - Howard Wright - 24-09-2019

Hi Tod

That looks a very nice car.  Well done.

If the Brookfields Special turns out anywhere nearly as well finished I will be very pleased.

Cheers

Howard

Very nice Tod! I’m interested in the remote gear change....one you made yourself?

RE: A new RTC on the block... - Ivor Hawkins - 24-09-2019

I'm in full agreement with Nick, it looks great, now get out there and drive it!

RE: A new RTC on the block... - Tod - 24-09-2019

Gentlemen,  thank you for your kind comments about my car. It is my intention to use it as much as possible, obviously weather dependant.
Howard, I think I met you at the Guildtown Ceilidh ? I have no doubt the Brookfield Special will turn out nice and look forward to following the progress.
Jay's, Yes the remote was made by myself, it was really quite simple and works well to date. If you are interested PM me and I will strip it and make a few sketches and notes for you. You would probably need access to a lathe and milling machine though.
Tod

Thanks for the offer Tod, sadly I no longer have access to a lathe or milling machine. A remote is something I’ve been thinking about for my Ulster Rep....just a shame that all I’ve seen available have been for three speeders.

Cheers
John

RE: A new RTC on the block... - Jamie - 24-09-2019

Jay,

That looks really good. I hope that my car looks as good when I get onto it.

Is the mechanism for the remote under the floor or transmission tunnel, or is it just obscured by the perspective?

Jamie.

RE: A new RTC on the block... - Nick Lettington - 24-09-2019

John. Steve Hodgeson made one for me for a 4 speed box. Much like the sort sold in the late 50s... He was very reasonable.

His contact details are here.
