Manifold Stud - williamsderbys - 19-08-2019 The stud into the exhaust manifold on my chummy only has about 50% of the manifold casting left to seat the inlet manifold. Could someone suggest a suitable 'filler' to fill the gap. The stud is well attached. One of the modern 'metal in a tube ' concoctions? Will it stand heat? Thanks John W RE: Manifold Stud - AustinWood - 19-08-2019 I'm not at all sure that the top stud that attached the inlet manifold to the exhaust does a lot mechanically. It must have a hot-spot effect which is probably a bad idea with modern fuels. RE: Manifold Stud - bob46320 - 19-08-2019 If you don't have a washer between the cast iron exhaust manifold and the Al inlet manifold, you run the risk of pinching the manifold and upsetting the gasket seal between the block / inlet manifold. RE: Manifold Stud - Hedd_Jones - 20-08-2019 Just saw it off. Its a pain in the arse and doesnt do anything useful. |
