Salamanda for sale - Paul N-M - 28-07-2019 Salamanda A7 special for sale (again?) in Gremany via Pre War Car.com Asking 55 thousand Euors. Looks rather uncomfortable to drive! P N-M RE: Salamanda for sale - Greig Smith - 28-07-2019 It's a rather hefty chunk of change for what is in actually a 'Special', although I must confess I really do like this little car, it ticks all the boxes for a sporting 2 seater Special & I think the whole body shape & style is just fabulous. Then again I'm equally enamored of our little Top Hat saloon & the pair would suit me nicely. Paul you are right, but looking at the pictures of Amanda in the car, she was sitting higher, I suspect the German driver has taken the seat out to get a bit more room in the cockpit Aye Greig RE: Salamanda for sale - dickie65 - 28-07-2019 Anyone with over size sevens will have a job with the pedal spacing. Its an interesting car to drive, I did a car swap with Amanda a few years ago at the Malvern Showground, it was snug for me at 5 ft 6 with size seven hoofs. RE: Salamanda for sale - Duncan Grimmond - 29-07-2019 I 5'9" and wear size 7 (41E) and I had a sit in it when it was in our local specialist classic saleroom. I think it must have been built for a child or short teenager! The pedals were verging on the dangerously inaccessible. The rest of the car had me grinning from ear to ear though, a beautiful and interesting project, right up my street. At the time it was on offer for £26K IIRC... RE: Salamanda for sale - goodwoodweirdo - 30-07-2019 The car is all over the internet for sale, but I dont find the history of the car... plenty of action pixs - come on chaps spill the beans ... cheers Matt RE: Salamanda for sale - Greig Smith - 30-07-2019 Matt as I understand it, a few years ago Amanda Fain de Salis was at an auction bidding on the well known A7 race car Mrs Jo-Jo, Oliver Way's brother out-bid her and in a gesture of goodwill Oliver offered to build her a bespoke road/race car and the Salamanda Special is the result. Oliver Way is well known for rebuilding old race cars and in his own words 'making interesting things' --> https://www.oliverway.co.uk/. Quite a lot of his details on the Salamanda epitomise the more modern 'Steampunk' genre of manufacture That's my observation from the Colonies anyway Aye Greig RE: Salamanda for sale - Alan - 30-07-2019 Hmm. He outbid me too. Wonder where mine is. RE: Salamanda for sale - goodwoodweirdo - 31-07-2019 Greg, fantastic thank you .... seems I know of one project the Maserati van.... I really love his work, especially the mix between new / old and patina.. there goes my afternoon "googling" his work haa haa haa |
