Spark plug spanner - David.H - 22-05-2019 I cannot locate among my (considerable!) assortment of tools a box spanner or plug socket spanner....nor even a big socket to fit an 18mm plug! What A/F should it be....Daft question, but I don't like using an open end spanner on plugs RE: Spark plug spanner - Ian McGowan - 22-05-2019 Purely because it was available I used a 1"AF deep socket. Possibly foolish question but, why didn't you just measure the plug AF?? RE: Spark plug spanner - David Stepney - 22-05-2019 If the plug is an original detachable type, then a 9/16 Whit will fit . If it is a modern replacement Champion D16 then a 7/8th AF (or 22mm!) will fit. RE: Spark plug spanner - Hedd_Jones - 23-05-2019 will your adjustable spanner not fit? RE: Spark plug spanner - David.H - 23-05-2019 My calliper has died & I haven't got around to putting a new battery in....DOH! Hedd, Adjustables are the spawn of the devil as far as I and my knuckles are concerned! David Thanks for that information...naturally I have ancient & modern (NGK) plugs (not at the same time!) so will look out for a 22mm (and a 9/16BSW for the old 'uns). David RE: Spark plug spanner - John Mason - 23-05-2019 I use a 22mm combination spanner (ring end) without problems. RE: Spark plug spanner - Alan - 23-05-2019 Do you mean from Aldi not Lidl? RE: Spark plug spanner - Hedd_Jones - 24-05-2019 No, Swedish. Not German. RE: Spark plug spanner - Nick Lettington - 24-05-2019 If you have to use a shifting spaner, first check if it is metric or imperial... Then check if it has a left or right hand thread... Then the chances of you skinning your knuckles should be much reduced. |
