Bronze age Seven? - Howard Wright - 02-05-2019 Hi All The more I scrape away decades of gunge from the back axle the more I think that the ends are bronze. Anyone else seen this? Howard RE: Bronze age Seven? - bob46320 - 02-05-2019 I reccon someone copper plated it at some time - is it magnetic ? RE: Bronze age Seven? - Howard Wright - 02-05-2019 You're right Bob It is magnetic. But why plate the axle ends? The banjo and tubes are plain steel. Cheers Howard RE: Bronze age Seven? - Alan - 02-05-2019 The tube is brazed into the axle end. Probably that’s where it comes from. RE: Bronze age Seven? - bob46320 - 02-05-2019 Because someone could ? It would help to prevent rust or perhaps in the past it looked good ? Easily done with some copper sulphate. RE: Bronze age Seven? - Ruairidh Dunford - 03-05-2019 A good friend of mine ran his Chummy for year with a chrome plated front axle fitted - blingtastic! RE: Bronze age Seven? - Alan - 03-05-2019 I always knew you was posh |
