Nippy Windscreen bracket - Peter Stanley - 22-02-2019 Hi - should there be a rubber strip between the car body and each windscreen support bracket? I am in the process of test fitting everything before painting my 2 seat AEW - what is good for the nippy would be good for the AEW. I can't see any evidence in general Nippy or AEW photos that I have but it isn't something I have been looking out for. Thanks Peter RE: Nippy Windscreen bracket - Chris KC - 22-02-2019 I don't think there is Peter but would defer to those who have researched such matters - Jon? RE: Nippy Windscreen bracket - Greig Smith - 22-02-2019 Logic says there must have been something under there when new or else rainwater would find its way under the brackets and over the dashboard while driving. What it was originally I don't know, probably a thin mastic or caulk or similar. For what it's worth Dad always had a strip of old inner tube under the screen on our "65" when I was growing up, thin enough to be nearly invisible and thick enough do the job - protects your new expensive paintwork. The windscreen posts on our Giulietta Spiders are seated on a thin strip of mastic, as is the lower screen rubber & they are watertight, alas the rest of the hood is not quite so water tight. Aye Greig RE: Nippy Windscreen bracket - Dennis Nicholas - 22-02-2019 Peter I had thin rubber strips on my Nippy. I don't know what official original build was, but I put them in:- a. prevent damage to paintwork b. to stop wet getting under and into bolt holes when it would then run down into the double skin scuttle and rot out the body at the bottom of the A post. Dennis RE: Nippy Windscreen bracket - JonE - 22-02-2019 Chris Gould has some remanufactured strips for the lower edge to scuttle top face. No sign of seals at edges of screen... RE: Nippy Windscreen bracket - AllAlloyCup - 22-02-2019 Morris 8 Tourers, 2- Seaters and all pre-war MG’s Had rubber gaskets under the windscreen stanchions. Old inner tube rubber is ideal. I’m using that on my Cup Regards Bill G RE: Nippy Windscreen bracket - Peter Stanley - 22-02-2019 Hi Gents thank you all for getting back to me on this it is a big help...I will experiment with some old innertube/mastic.
