GE Cup Boulogne - Tom Coates - 10-01-2019 I've just come across this rather nice picture on a French cyclecar forum which looks like the prototype Cup recently discussed here. Has anyone seen it before? Presumably the start of the race. RE: GE Cup Boulogne - stuartu - 10-01-2019 Thanks for posting this Tom but, yes! See post by Duncan titled ATF on 27/12/18 for the ensuing discussion. Regards, Stuart RE: GE Cup Boulogne - AllAlloyCup - 10-01-2019 Hi Tom I contributed earlier to the thread about this photo from Duncan As a prototype Cup it’s got a large number of features Different from early production Cups. I wonder how Mrs GE felt about being the riding mechanic? My own Cup project is coming along nicely and is now fully alloy skinned Which I suspect this car was, note the door edges( similar to Chummies?) I’ve followed this door design with my car and also fitted dual boot latches as per the early Cups. Also planning to fit similar Lucas scuttle sidemarkers , but using them as Front n indicators with orange bulbs. I’d love to see more photos of this early GE car. Regards Bill G Aka AllAlloyCup RE: GE Cup Boulogne - Mike Costigan - 10-01-2019 Bill, the car was definitely fabric bodied at Le Mans: RE: GE Cup Boulogne - Robin Boyce - 10-01-2019 (10-01-2019, 05:24 PM)Mike Costigan Wrote: Bill, the car was definitely fabric bodied at Le Mans: Looks like Arthur Waite in car No 1, but what type of 7? RE: GE Cup Boulogne - Mike Costigan - 10-01-2019 Robin,It was Waite and Depper in a standard (50mph) Sports. RE: GE Cup Boulogne - AllAlloyCup - 10-01-2019 Hi Mike You’re probably right, but the scanning/screening artefact Pattern on the photo reproduction just adds to the confusion! Where the scuttle lamps are fitted looks like they’re compressing A fabric underpinned with kapok scrim! Ah yes, i thought it must be a post about automatic transmission fluid so I didn't bother to look it. It makes a bit more sense now! It doesn't help that I quite often browse on my iPhone without logging in so I can't see the pictures. The ATF is very good, perhaps there should be a twinning committee! Mine is booked at the panelbeater for some new wings. I'm also lowering the seat base with a flat section at the back and a small transmission hump to clear the torque tube and stop me sliding around on corners! RE: GE Cup Boulogne - Ruairidh Dunford - 10-01-2019 Tom, I was discussing the fact that there are around 9 Cup Models in Scotland just now with Tom A. this afternoon - I would like to see if they can all be mustered at the Guildtown Rally this year - more distance for you but I came to France "last year" so maybe your turn! Presumably the lower front metalwork is just addition for aerodynamics, or.. ? |
