A nice picture of a Mk2 Ruby submitted by Jeff Taylor. I have been able to identify the driver as J M Ching, competing in the 1937 MCC Lands End Trial. Now over to you to identify the location!

Is it Beggars Roost?

Here's another nice picture of the same car, taken by me approximately 25 years ago in Ruislip, at the home of its owner. I suspect it may have changed hands since, but I recognised that registration number straight away.

It could be Hustyn Hill, near Wadebridge here in Cornwall. It was surfaced in the early 60s but remains a challenge for Sevens! I went up in the Ruby last week - when the engine was healthier I used to be able to clear it in second gear but this time I was in first all the way.

It’s showing as”taxed” on the DVLA website.

First registered 1937 and pictured in a 1937 trial. Was it usual to get new cars competing?
