A grand day out in the Highlands... - Ruairidh Dunford - 17-10-2018 A grand day out in the Highlands to fit a newly rebuilt engine in a ‘25 Chummy. We drove over Britain’s highest road five up, fitted engine, had a picnic in the sun and then drove back over again. Low on fuel we cut out on the last hairpin at Bridge of Brown but a spare gallon saw us going again. Smiles from ear to ear! Ascending the Lecht... Freshly installed engine takes it’s first run... RE: A grand day out in the Highlands... - Peter Naulls - 17-10-2018 What a great day! Warm sunshine, spectacular scenery and Sevens everywhere. We were chauffeured in our friends lovely 1931 Morris with huge amounts of legroom. Peter RE: A grand day out in the Highlands... - Ian Williams - 17-10-2018 Looks like the owner is trying to stop you escaping with his car in one shot! RE: A grand day out in the Highlands... - Timothy P - 18-10-2018 Brilliant stuff Ruairidh, looks like a super (and productive) day out. Do you just have the standard suspension, or is it supplemented with something like 'Nobby' springs? My RM sits very much like your car unladen ... ![]() ... but there is no way it could carry a full load without the wheels rubbing on the arches (they manage that even travelling solo under cornering!) RE: A grand day out in the Highlands... - Ruairidh Dunford - 18-10-2018 The front wings are set up slightly higher than they should be Mike, which results in a jaunty look - Hedd commented on similar a few years back. The car still rides correctly fully loaded without any assistance from Knobbys etc.(see Peter’s photo from behind when climbing the Lecht). The springs are from my father a number of years ago and still perform correctly. In fact, the car rides very well - but I do run at 28 psi when loaded like this.
