Girling front brakes / lever angles ?? - flywheel1935 - 01-09-2018

My ARQ Ruby has at some point in its past been fitted with the later Girling front axle + brakes. just trying to sort out if the front brake lever should be vertical with the road or point forwards ? was told that the brake levers and shoe cams are symmetrical , but according to the parts list they are handed, over to the experts, ps my first posting.  Undecided

They should point forwards, forming an acute angle with the cables so that when fully applied they ideally don't go beyond 90°. Make sure the cotter pins are in the right way, nuts to the front. The lever balls should face the backplates.

My RP has a semi girling front axle & radius arms, but in order to get the brakes to work properly in conjuction with the pre-girling rear end I have since fitted the earlier, shorter levers.

Hi, thanks, make more sense the pic shows, may need to change both levers and cams.
