Annual Swallow Rally - 2018... - Ruairidh Dunford - 19-08-2018

My mother and I have just spent a lovely weekend at the annual Swallow Register Rally - this year it came north to Yorkshire, many thanks to all who helped organise it.

What a super thing to behold!
n.b. I believe a 'gulp' is the collective term for swallows.

If anybody is curious about the larger light blue car - its a Wolseley Hornet

Owned by Lorna Mountford, Registrar or Secretary of the Swallow Register. Largely rebuilt by Lorna and a frequent winner of the Swallow Bodied Wolsleley Hornet trophy.

Lorna is an exceptional craftsman who discussed how she is now teaching herself to use the English Wheel. Her upholstery talents were also on show in a newly restored saloon.

The man who owns the black and white saloon nearest the camera is also restoring a WH Swallow like Lorna’s, they are very special cars that exude Art Deco styling.

Lorna's co-pilot in the photo is Tony Duck, also restoring a WH Swallow. Lorna I believe persuaded her father to let her have the car, the proviso being she had to have it back on the road within Twelve months, it was.  A woman with immense determination.

Looks like it was a nice meet. Would liked to have been there with "Trundles" but no chance this year. Maybe next time.
