Dynamotor - Tim Parry - 24-07-2018 This may not prove to be fresh information but might help others.I bought 6 volt Dynamotor and have been alarmed by reports of wear.Consequently we have refitted the old worm gears from either end of the old dynamo to the new ends on dynamotor. Surprisingly perhaps we found WEAR on the new worm gear from the distributor end of the dynamotor.Surprisingly this “new” gear is shorter than the original gear.Significantly it is also SMALLER in diameter than the older unit.Consequently we believe the gears are not meshing at correct depth which may be the cause of wear. RE: Dynamotor - bob46320 - 24-07-2018 Just out of curiosity, what is a dynamotor, I thought it was a machine to change DC voltage by having two sets of windings on the same shaft (Typical WW2 radio power pack and BIG) and probably only 40% efficient. BobH RE: Dynamotor - Ruairidh Dunford - 24-07-2018 Can you post photos of the differences you have found and the wear please Tim? RE: Dynamotor - Nigel was in Brittany - 24-07-2018 Its a product by Accuspark Bob, the bit in the middle is fine, its just that the gears at both ends are crap Have a look at Accusparks website, they are there, you can't miss them they have withdrawn them from sale !! RE: Dynamotor - AustinWood - 24-07-2018 The item is actually a Dynamator which is an alternator that is a direct replacement for an Austin 7 Dynamo. |
