Auction results - Steve kay - 26-06-2018 On a warm summer evening it is all too easy to sit out on the patio to look at prices in Brightwell's recent auction. The alleged 1935 "Ulster" quasi replica that got such a bad review here, actually fetched £12,320 plus commision of course. Am I alone in finding that remarkable, for all the wrong reasons? The '28 Chummy went for £13,100 and for almost the same someone bought the 1924 12/4 , that is £13,200. Both the latter two eligible for various sporting activities and with at least some provenance. The "Ulster" price seems like a terrible temptation for Ruby chopping for the less honest. RE: Auction results - JonE - 26-06-2018 is it just me or does the Special coming up in July have a similar sort of theme to it? https://www.brightwells.com/classic-motoring/leominster-classic-vintage/leominster-classic-vintage-11th-july-2018/leominster-classic-and-vintage-11th-july/ RE: Auction results - Nick Salmon - 27-06-2018 I believe the sale prices shown on the catalogue include the buyer premium. I was at Bicester at the weekend and had a good look at the 'Ulster' and the Chummy. The Ulster was a mishmash and not even lowered but it had the Rod Yates body which was of course good. I reckoned it would be worth a punt at £6 - £7K so kept my hand down when it went sailing past that. The Chummy was OK but not to my taste. It was about on the money. If anyone wants to have a look, here are pictures from the weekend. An excellent and very interesting selection of stuff. Quite a few A7s in evidence (see future edition of Rumblings in the 750MC Bulletin). Check out the extraordinary radial-engined motorcycle! https://flic.kr/s/aHsmnaVkRu RE: Auction results - Bob Culver - 27-06-2018 Does anybody know anything about the radial engined mc? In the 1930s Drummond used to feature in their brochures a working model aero engine made by a very able enthusiast on an ultra basic round bed lathe, but it would be far too precious to instal in a derelict bike RE: Auction results - Nick Salmon - 27-06-2018 (27-06-2018, 07:41 AM)Bob Culver Wrote: Does anybody know anything about the radial engined mc? If it were not for the price would all seem a bit pointless. Still curious about source of the motor. RE: Auction results - mopetta - 27-06-2018 This is a french Peugeot P50 BMA (bicycle with small 99cc engine). The engine is from india built for aircraft models. They even sell a 260cc - 7 cylinder engine. https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/horizon-hobby-best-brands/evolution-brand/evolution-brand/9-cylinder-99cc-4-stroke-glow-radial-engine-evoe999 RE: Auction results - Steve Jones - 27-06-2018 (27-06-2018, 07:11 AM)Nick Salmon Wrote: .......The Chummy was OK but not to my taste.
