Green Pea Special - Tony Press - 21-06-2018 Now that is an Austin Seven (or nearly an Austin Seven) racing car ! https://www.prewarcar.com/236275-1932-pgs-pea-green-special Reportedly cost 100.000 UKP !! RE: Green Pea Special - Austin in the Shed - 21-06-2018 That's a brilliantly engineered car,but wow £100k to build ! RE: Green Pea Special - JonE - 21-06-2018 Reading an article on restoration of Merc SLs and how they easily top a million, its easier to understand when much of the quoted figure is based on the charging rate for the business which is putting in the labour... in hours that paid staff are sitting around unused. Realistically, how many hours went into that (amazing) car? RE: Green Pea Special - Nick Turley - 21-06-2018 A super piece of work - hope it gets used. RE: Green Pea Special - Stuart Giles - 21-06-2018 Beautifully engineered. I'd love to know what it weighs though, there seems to be quite a lot of metal joining up all those drilled lightening holes. RE: Green Pea Special - Austin Carr - 21-06-2018 I've seen the car and it is a masterpiece. I was told, that the owner spared no expense and at times already excellent work was redone for the goal of perfect car. RE: Green Pea Special - Mike Costigan - 21-06-2018 I agree with Stuart - beautifully engineered, but how much does it weigh? Just look at the bulkhead behind the seat, for example: 236275-1529526082-5848990.JPG (Size: 47.51 KB / Downloads: 612) It's only a closing panel, not even a seat support; a simple 18g or 20g alloy panel with no strengthening at all would do the job! RE: Green Pea Special - Nick Salmon - 21-06-2018 I highlighted the PGS in a previous thread. http://www.austinsevenfriends.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?tid=834&highlight=PGS I succeeded in tracking down the new owner (who is not the original builder) and invited him to bring the car to the National A7 Rally at Beaulieu weekend after next. Regretably he didn't respond so I would take it that the sale of the house/car is taking precedence. RE: Green Pea Special - Duncan Grimmond - 21-06-2018 Exquisite work. I just hope it gets out to play and doesn't languish in a private museum somewhere! RE: Green Pea Special - Chris KC - 22-06-2018 Is it just me who finds this a little hard to understand? |
