Zenith 26VA choke spring replacement - Roger Goldthorpe - 15-04-2018 Hi all, I am replacing the choke spring on my Zenith 26VA carburettor. To remove the broken spring it appears that the choke operating lever and (throttle ?) cam will need to be separated. They are I assume a tight push fit but I am fearful of damaging one, other or both. How is the best way to tackle this? Roger For choke read air strangler or air shutter if you prefer! RE: Zenith 26VA choke spring replacement - Stuart Joseph - 15-04-2018 Hello. There is no need to separate the lever/cam as you can 'unwind' the broken spring with a pair of pliers over the cam. Re-assembly is the reverse of disassembly (to use a phrase borrowed from Haynes). Regards from Staffordshire - the pot-hole county. Thank you Stuart The rubber band has now been replaced by the choke spring! The technique you suggested is much the same as fitting a key to a key ring. Roger |
