The modern only goes out maybe 3 times a week, sometimes less. I like to keep it dry and keep it many years. Bought it new and it's only eight now. Kept the last one till it was about 17. Also not got much room outside at front or back. It sometimes sits in the front garden for a few days if I know I'll be out in the 7 a few times. Being able to position the vice directly under the drill bit or milling cutter makes life so much easier. On a budget? Get a cheap compound screw-feed vice to bolt to the table of the pillar drill - again, it transforms the machine and makes many jobs so very much easier. RE: What would you include in the perfect Austin Seven workshop? - Reckless Rat - 09-01-2022 Not very exotic, but a large flip top waste bin, with 100litre bin bag is very useful. More of the same if you're into recycling. Bluetooth speaker system for "musak" RE: What would you include in the perfect Austin Seven workshop? - Hugh Barnes - 09-01-2022 I have taken the opportunity to compare Kerosene and the 'branded' cleaning fluid in a pal's parts washer that I use. My statistically relevant sample of 1 showed to me, at least, that the branded stuff lasted much, much longer than kerosene, remaining 'cleaner'. I do agree though, the initial lay out does (did!) cause a sharp intake of breath... And out in all weathers, as is our Ruby RE: What would you include in the perfect Austin Seven workshop? - Colin Morgan - 09-01-2022 A useful item - a short length of plank (19") to hold down the brake pedal when checking the brake lights, and to stand on the battery box to prop up the bonnet side when needed. |
