RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Howard Wright - 18-08-2023 Hi Charles Sorry to be a harbinger of doom but you’ll probably have nerve damage. I’ve had two scrapes like that…one with a Stanley knife and one a hacksaw. Both cut straight through my gloves. I can’t feel anything around either wound anymore ![]() Cheers Howard RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Charles P - 18-08-2023 Luckily (and in a sense unluckily) I can still feel c RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Alan - 18-08-2023 Get it seen to, properly, now. BTW expect parcel posted today. RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Charles P - 18-08-2023 (18-08-2023, 04:55 PM)Alan Wrote: Get it seen to, properly, now. BTW expect parcel posted today. Thanks Alan RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - David Stepney - 19-08-2023 Not a nice injury, Charles. Angle grinders, like chainsaws, can inflict serious damage in a trice. I have scars to prove it! I would echo the advice to set it seen to professionally. RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - David Stepney - 19-08-2023 Young Leon has been busy over the last few months training a 15.2 hand cob ('Blaze'), bringing him from a recalcitrant youngster to being a reliable ride and drive horse. There is still much work to do with him, but, as part of his training, on Thursday, Leon rode him the 5 miles from his paddock in the Berwyns down to home to get Blaze used to traffic and as a confidence building exercise for them both. Blaze bed and breakfasted (on my apple tree!) overnight in the garden and we took him back to his quarters yesterday afternoon after Leon had groomed him and then ridden him down to Bala Lake and back As the Seven had not been out for a week, I decided that I would use the little car as the tender to follow Leon back. The A4391 was surprisingly busy bit most of the motorists were courteous. The technique we used was for me to drive from layby to layby and then walk back to meet Leon and Blaze, warning traffic as I went. I was interesting to see lots of interest and photo taking both in the horse and the car and several people stopped to chat to us as we made our way. One person, seeing me walking back from the Seven in the direction that the Leon was coming stopped to see if I was alright, which I thought was kind. As we got onto Bwlch yr Eira, it started to rain, and by the time we had got to the horses' paddock we were soaked. I also discovered that the Seven's roof has started to leak, a wet patch appearing at the drivers side rear of the headlining, so tracing and fixing that will be a task for this week. having settled the horses down, we then went over to see a 77 year old friend of ours who had managed to fall off the roof on his bungalow the previous day cleaning moss from the roof. Fortunately, he was not badly injured, but has broken his shoulder so will be out of action for a few weeks. Not many photos I'm afraid as I had forgotten that I had used the little Kodak several days before and had used up part of my precious allowance of 8 shots. However, her is what i have got of our adventure: ![]() ![]() All tacked up and ready to go ![]() On our way! And finally, A photo of the seven with a rather smart Mercedes 350SL taken in Bala a few days previously: ![]() RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - dickie65 - 20-08-2023 Hi Folks, Today we took Noddy the EB65 out for some exercise the RAF Harrobeer for their 1940s weekend. Only a handfulof pre war cars in attendance. There was a nice 1932 Saloon and Noddy holding the A7 end up. A BSA three wheeler with the four cylinder engine a very stunning 1920s Hotchkiss and a Derby Bentley were the pre war offerings. As soon as we arrived there was interest in the car and numerous young children were allowed to sit in the car and have their pictures taken by parents / family. A few of the parents had a try for size as well !! The event was small with a military bias on a former WW2 Airfield. A very rare Robey Tri Tandem Steam roller was towing a trailer full of people around to raise money for charity. Unfortunately no fly pasts could be arranged but there was a Radial engine from an Avro Anson being demonstated. RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Steve Parkin - 21-08-2023 Went to the classic car show in Brackley yesterday (but had to watch the Lionesses in the pub as well). Good turnout of all sorts of vehicles including commercials but only a few pre-war. Sevens represented by our RN, a 1930 Chummy a 1937 Special. Good car show and nice setting in the park, but the football result was disappointing. RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - David Cochrane - 21-08-2023 A good turn-out of PWA7C Midshires at the Cosby yarn-bombing event in Leicestershire this morning. RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Ivor Hawkins - 22-08-2023 I was trying to get back from the West Country in the Alfa, in order to take the box saloon to Brackley, but it also happened to be Alfa day down the road in Bicester….by the time I got back, I had missed both as I was having too much fun driving the Wiltshire lanes with the top down. I’ll definitely get the Seven to Brackley next year. |
