It is looking less likely that the Nippy Special will be ready to go to the centenary weak .
I have just painted the rear under wing parts of the body with KBS Rust Seal.....sander to bare metal, 2 coats Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80, 2 coats Rust seal gloss black.  Just waiting to get KBS Black top to go over the Rust seal to UV proof it.

You will see that I have retained the wonderful ORIGINAL patina of ex-rust pockmarks and historic patches welded in (should make car more valuable??  Smile )

You can see from the reflection of my (handsome Blush ) face the very high gloss of the paint (the Black Top top coat is same)

wood between floor and cill top lip
   

Unfortunately I forgot at the time the new floor was being put in to tell my welder friend to put in a piece of wood spacer between floor and cill top lip so correct gap would be there and floor would be flat all the way along, so the floor is a bit miss-shaped and it has been an awful job to sand the wood to fit to the floor and nicely fit under cill lip.  Band saw will cut back the inner face to make wood just protrude from cill.

PS for the anoraks - sorry I do not know the make/model of the wood pallet it is all resting on Rolleyes

I visited the Anson Museum today where they have a massive collection of of engines     the bedplate behind the Seven is a Doxford.     A sectioned Deltic.     A line of engines which are all operational.

Together with my son. I was directing things and checking tightness of nuts etc. He was hands on doing the work. We changed the failed head gasket and used Loctite copper silicon for the first time,(previously I had been a thin smear of grease man.). All appears good and we are up and running again this means we will be able to go on a drive it day BH Sunday and I can also honour my promise to transport a young lady to her prom evening with my grandson as her escort.

I popped down to Tesco in the Ruby to get some shopping. As I stopped at the traffic lights a Type 57 Bugatti turned across in front of me; I did give them a cheery wave but didn't get any response! To be fair they were turning into the hospital so perhaps had other things on their mind.

The only exotic cars we get in Inverness are those touring around enjoying the Highland scenery. I certainly wouldn't want to park my Bugatti in the hospital car park!

A local primary school were learning about old transport and I was asked to do a presentation. The children had questionairs and grilled me like a news conference, they took notes and will compare/discuss in class later. 
Of course I said that when they became of driving age to consider the option of owning one.

More on the Bugatti. My neighbour chatted to the owners at the petrol station, they are an English couple up on holiday. The car is a 1937 Atalante coupe; I Googled it and a similar one sold recently for £1.5 million. Lovely to see this one being used and enjoyed rather than just treated as an investment.

Earlier this week I fitted chains (to replace the string!) on the doors, and sewed up the green covers. All the door trimming is my own work. Lock covers are on their way from David Cochrane.
   
Today I drove the Ruby about seventy miles in total. Went to The Motorist at Sherburn where it was advertised as an Austin Rover Day, featuring the Metro. No Austins turned up other than us in the Ruby. There was a Morris mini, and a mini pickup which DVLA list as Austin Morris. And a Rover 2000. No Metros at all. So we deviated and went to visit daughter and family, miles by we got back home around 70. Furthest I've ever driven it in one day. Oh and we ran out of petrol.
