RE: USA Woodie - JonE - 25-06-2022 I wish they would put that in the highway code a bit more strongly... being courteous enough to keep the line of traffic going through the green light fairly 'tight' for the benefit of everyone. It irritates me more than motorway centre lane hoggers. It's an automatic and the drawback is the prodigious fuel consumption; in Switzerland where it lives it in the mountains, it's hard to beat 20 mpg even when taking it carefully. Towing a camping trailer and all the holiday paraphernalia it's even worse. RE: USA Woodie - Erich - 26-06-2022 Tony and Howard, I bought ours in 2016. It is a 2005 model. It had 70,000 miles on it when we bought it. I budgeted a new gasket job which was totally expected. At 140,000 miles now, I expect that we are due for another timing chain/head gasket replacement. Aside from those things, which I expected, it has been a great car. Unfortunately, that generation and the one following were the last small ones. Then they grew. I think I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for another low mileage one in the next 100K miles. " Gas " prices are the talk of the town there. Good Morning America on the TV ( American TV is so goddamn awful! ) is full of it. Didn't seem to stop the high speeds on the Freeways however. Not all new Defenders are Chelsea Tractors. My daughter's is used for towing, off roading and general moving of rubbish. The inside of it is like a tip! Speaking to people in the States, the Range Rover is not renown for quality, which is a pity. RE: USA Woodie - Reckless Rat - 26-06-2022 I have a pal in Australia who likes to go "walkabout" in the outback north of Melbourne. The saying in OZ is "If you want to go out into the bush, you need a Land/Range Rover, but if you want to get out of the bush afterwards, you need a Toyota..." |
