The mighty machine that opened the entire volume of comment and observation, no Seven in this snap. Too much rain and Stygian gloom for any pictures of wet Welsh motoring today, but temperatures difficult to believe for 30th December. Radiator muffs abandoned, fan belt back on, gauge indicating 75 whilst running and pushing 80 in traffic.

It's outside of the entrance to a stone quarry, and probably was a company vehicle a long time ago. No idea how long it has been there, but at least 10 years to my knowledge, probably more. On the way there I passed another old Peugeot, at the entrance to the "Grotte de la Cocalière" on the Gard/Ardèche border. Link here to it on Google maps:

It seems to be fairly typical that these things don't "disappear" into the back of a lorry with a HiAb belonging to those rustic chaps that offer really good discounts on tarmac. This photo is of a memorial garden in the next village to mine, Le Martinet, which features some sort of bucket from the coal mining era and an old motor bike. It too has been there for at least 20 years. I haven't checked to see if it's welded or concreted to the spot.

There is also this "convoy" of former US military vehicles, abandoned after WW2 on display at a local Haulage Contractors, along with a Citroen "Traction" 11BL which unfortunately DID get a visit from the you know whos, it is missing its engine and gearbox...

Me too! I've been a regular annual visitor for years and really miss the opportunity to engage...I'm hoping (again) that the GPRetro at le Puy N-D may run this coming year.

I get out and about occasionally in the Austin but just locally, for an hour or so. We haven't been anywhere other than local shopping for over two years, and despite being triple jabbed I have no desire to push the envelope until things have settled down, especially now with the current state of affairs. We should have been in northern Italy for the Mem'Sahib's birthday in 2019 but that was shelved and we haven't seen the family face to face since summer 2019. It's not all rosy, but the weather helps.
