RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Peter Naulls - 28-08-2021 I refitted the re-rivetted clutch plate and repaired close-ratio gearbox to the Ulsterish. It's been 20 years since I used this box and I'd forgotten was a pleasure the Nippy ratios are. Hopefully we'll get a few more weeks of good weather so I can enjoy it. RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - andrew34ruby - 31-08-2021 seven rugby.jpg (Size: 123.56 KB / Downloads: 587) Took my two Austins to a show at Harrogate yesterday. Do like the black Jag. seven jag rugby.jpg (Size: 114.59 KB / Downloads: 582) RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Duncan Grimmond - 31-08-2021 Didn’t you do Ripon Old Cars Andrew? I missed it for the third year running as we seem to be on coincidental holidays…. RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - andrew34ruby - 31-08-2021 When was Ripon Old Cars Duncan? I was at Ripon racecourse on Sunday, Harrogate on Monday. RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - dickie65 - 31-08-2021 Hi Folks, Not Quite Today but on Saturday. Also on Sunday. My EB65 In car passengers eye view is in the link below. I managed to get it over 6500 rpm in third one one run on the Sunday probably in first off the line too but I was not looking at the rev counter A Cambridge Special and a Single seater special were out having a play in the sunshine.( no movie of these two ) https://youtu.be/alFAAk2Fv74 RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - David Stepney - 01-09-2021 Having nothing pressing to do today, and the Seven looking a trifle travel-stained, I took the little car to the local hand carwash and had them clean the car to my specific direction, took it home and polished it with some very up-market wax polish that was given to me. In case you are wondering why I didn't wash the car myself, I should mention that my water comes from a well and it actually dried up for part of the summer. Although the well is now working, water is still a precious commodity and great circumspection and economy is currently being practiced 'chez Stepney'. The two Kurdish brothers who run the carwash have washed the car before, so know not to point the pressure washer wand directly at the paintwork, but, holding it aloft, allow the water to rain down on the car. Result: one clean car with its somewhat delicate 50 year old paintwork intact. Final result (Taken for those interested with my Leica D-Lux 2): RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Hedd_Jones - 02-09-2021 Locally our 1st Wednesday of the month 'Pride and Joy' restarted in August, as a group we took a 1960's Foden Lorry and my Chummy. I went to this months event last night in the chummy, complete with teenagers testing the spongy rear springs. There was a couple of nice vintage Humbers, plus a 30's painted cowl Austin 10 and a 30's Vauxhall for us pre war car lovers. The wife even took her Beetle. RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Reckless Rat - 02-09-2021 The commune of "Le Martinet" was formerly part of our village, but it became independant in 1921. It's main claim to fame is that it was the first ever politically communist commune in France, and has remained so ever since. They celebrated their centenary last weekend, part of which was a car and bike get together which I attended in the RP. Here are a few photos of interest: 1. La Nef tricycle from 1900 2. A Peugeot 203 "Decouvrable" - quite rare apparently 3. Big, suicide rear doors and not very beautiful, a Renault Colorade Estate from 1951 4. A Gladiator, arrived under its own power, slowly and with much smoke... 5. A 72 DS20, an Alfa Spider and a LHD MGA RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Howard Wright - 02-09-2021 Hi All Rekkers that Alfa looks superb! John and Nora Williams (former secretary of the South Wales A7 club) came up from Porthcawl for a few days in Llandrindod. So today we met up and did a “Dambusters” tour around the Elan Valley. Dambusters because the lower reservoir was used as a practice site for the eventual raid. The cars caused lots of camera clicking, especially from bikers most of whom gave the thumbs up as they passed us. Cheers Howard RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Reckless Rat - 02-09-2021 The majority of the practice runs for the Dambusters raid were done over the Howden, Derwent & Ladybower reservoirs in the Peak District near Sheffield. To celebrate the 50th anniversary in 1993 the Battle of Britain flight, including the Lancaster "City of Lincoln" flew over the dams. I was still working at the time and was involved in the traffic management aqlongside the Derbyshire lads to deal with the spectators. It was a very moving day. When you see how big and cumbersome a Lancaster is at low level, it's a wonder any of them came back. |
