RE: Smart motorways to be reviewed over driver safety fears - Colin Wilks - 25-10-2019 Regarding driving standards, are we witnessing an example of "Behavioral Sink" (sic), where behaviour alters as personal space reduces? See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behavioral_sink?wprov=sfti1 This raises another interesting point. Why do the British hold the queue to be sacrosanct but other, arguably equally civilised, societies just pile in in a scrum? RE: Smart motorways to be reviewed over driver safety fears - Dave Mann - 25-10-2019 Interesting Alan, I remember attending to a broken fan belt on our modern many years ago on the hard shoulder of the M62. I pulled onto the hard shoulder just after an over bridge then reversed back behind the bridge abutment for protection. Unfortunately you can't do that now thanks to the crash barriers installed to prevent dozy drivers going onto railway lines. |
