If you are replacing the crank and all the attendant work and cost. Then my strong recommendation is fit a Phoenix 1 1/8.
It will not break.
You will keep the dynamics of the mag engine which the thicker crank spoils.
However I would definitely get the assembly dynamically balanced because although pre balanced I have found they all need doing again.

Its a fit and forget solution.
