My RP is all LED (apart from the dash light that I haven't got round to yet) The rear lights and brake lights are in Lucas ST51s (D lights) using LED boards which do side/brake and number plate. They both have independant earth supplies.

Same for the indicators which are orange LEDs in "Rubbolite" holders, running on an electronic flasher unit with an LED warning lamp.

Belt & braces seems to do the trick.
